2月21日に、2006年度ノーベル平和賞受賞者ムハマド・ユヌス氏をお招きして開催される「ソーシャルビジネスジャパンフォーラム2017」に、弊社が実行委員会の一員として参加致します。
ユヌス氏は弊社の在バングラデシュ・グループ会社のグラミンユーグレナの会長でもあり、今回は日本でいかにソーシャルビジネスを根付かせるかについて議論するために来日されます。
ユヌス氏の基調講演、バングラデシュでソーシャルビジネスを展開する企業（弊社含む）の活動報告の他、弊社の出雲もパネラーとして参加するパネルディスカッション（モデレーター：一橋大学イノベーションセンター米倉教授）を行います。

内閣府　総合科学技術・イノベーション会議（CSTI）が主導する革新的研究開発推進プログラム（ImPACT）「脳情報の可視化と制御による活力溢れる生活の実現」の、2016年度「Brain Helthcareチャレンジ」において、当社案が入選アイデアとして採択されました。「Brain Helthcareチャレンジ」は、脳の健康促進の観点から、非医療分野の製品やサービスに関する革新的なアイデアを幅広く募集する取り組みであり、当社は「脳科学的アプローチによるユーグレナ摂取の効果検証及び潜在的な機能性の予測」というテーマで、ユーグレナを摂取することが脳へどのように影響するかを検証いたします。

The research conducted by the research group of Takashi Osanai, Faculty of Agriculture, Meiji University, Institute of Physical and Chemical Research, Kobe University, Euglena Co., Ltd., etc. was published in the Swiss scientific journal "Frontiers in Microbiology".

■ About research content
In this study, we discovered the extracellular production of succinic acid by Euglena
Previously, extracellular succinic acid production was unknown for Euglena Euglena under bright / aerobic conditions (high oxygen concentration) at room temperature and then shifting to dark / anaerobic conditions (low oxygen concentration), Euglena became dark.・ It was clarified that succinic acid is released extracellularly under anaerobic conditions. Succinic acid is a material that has been attracting attention in recent years as a raw material for bioplastics, and is expected to be socially implemented as a useful raw material for the chemical industry in the future.
